Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced it on August 15, 2019, and the Ministry of Jal Shakti is in charge of running it. Providing safe and sufficient drinking water through individual household tap connections in rural India is its main goal. Achieving 100% operational household tap connections in every rural community by the end of 2024 was the Mission’s stated goal. Important elements such as water quality testing and monitoring, which guarantees that the water supplied is safe for human consumption; sustainability of water sources, which entails putting policies in place for long-term water security; community involvement, grey water management, and wastewater reuse and safe disposal are also highlighted in the mission.
