What is the Indian Forest Service (IFS) and how does it differ from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS)?

 The Indian Forest Service (IFS) is one of the prestigious All-India Services under the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). It primarily deals with the management and conservation of forests, wildlife, and related resources. IFS officers play a pivotal role in environmental protection and sustainable development. 

In contrast, the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) is responsible for the general administration and governance of the country. IAS officers hold key positions in civil administration, working in various sectors like law and order, revenue collection, and policy implementation.

While both services are highly competitive and sought after, they differ in their focus areas, with IFS concentrating on forests and the environment, and IAS dealing with broader administrative functions within the Indian government.
