It is responsible for protecting India’s foreign borders, particularly those with Bhutan and Nepal. Although these boundaries are unfenced, BSF officers are stationed there to monitor the area and stop illegal immigration and cross-border crimes. Instead of concentrating exclusively on wartime operations, it was founded in 1965 with the primary goal of preserving peace and security along India’s borders both in times of peace and crisis. Additionally, it takes part in disaster relief and humanitarian aid initiatives, particularly after natural disasters.
