It is an international science award given for outstanding contributions to protein science, particularly in the field of protein structure and function. It is awarded by the Protein Society. It is named after Harold Doolittle, a pioneer in protein sequence analysis.

Significance:
1.Honors outstanding recent publications in the field of protein science published in the journal Protein Science
2.Recognizes innovative research that significantly advances our understanding of protein structure, function, design or engineering.

In April, 2024, an Indian scientist Dr.Shubhra Agrawal, from the CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, was awarded the Coller-Doolittle Prize for her innovative work on protein misfolding in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s.
