How does the UPSC assess the Mains Examination answer sheets?
The UPSC employs a double evaluation process for Mains Examination answer
sheets to ensure fairness and accuracy in scoring. Each answer script is evaluated by two
separate examiners, and their scores are kept anonymous to prevent any bias. In case
there is a significant difference between the scores given by the two examiners, a third
examiner re-evaluates the answer sheet. The final score is determined by calculating the
average of the two closest scores or the third evaluation score, if necessary. This method
minimizes any subjectivity in the evaluation process and ensures that candidates receive
an impartial assessment of their answers.
