Situated in the Imphal Valley of Manipur, it is the biggest freshwater lake in Northeast India. Phumdis, or floating masses of vegetation, earth, and organic materials at various stages of decomposition, are what make it famous. Keibul Lamjao National Park, the world’s only floating national park and the sole remaining natural habitat for the endangered Sangai Deer, is located there.
