It is being implemented in Gujarat’s Gir environment. Through the integration of conservation and eco-development, the project aims to save the Asiatic Lion in Gujarat using landscape ecology. In the semi-arid region of western India, the Gir forests are the longest continuous length of dry deciduous forest. The IUCN Red List indicates that Asiatic Lion is vulnerable. It is a part of Schedule I of the Wildlife (Protection) Act of 1972 and Appendix I of CITES.
