Known as the Siang River in Arunachal Pradesh, it rises in Tibet and passes through the state of Arunachal Pradesh. It is known as the Brahmaputra as it enters Assam. It is renowned for possessing the Yarlung Tsangpo Gorge, one of the longest and deepest river gorges in the world, and is undoubtedly one of the main rivers in South Asia. The Great Himalayan Range is traversed by it, and the river’s elevation and topography provide substantial hydroelectric potential. Along its path, hydroelectric projects have been planned.
