What are the levels of selection in IAS Exams?
In the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) exams, there are three levels of selection:
- 1. Preliminary Examination: The first stage, consisting of two objective-type papers, tests a candidate’s general knowledge and aptitude. It serves as a screening test, with only those who clear it advancing to the next stage.
- 2. Main Examination: The second stage comprises nine descriptive papers, including a language paper and an essay. It assesses the candidate’s knowledge depth and analytical abilities.
- 3. Interview/Personality Test: The final stage involves a face-to-face interview with a panel of experts. It evaluates a candidate’s personality, communication skills, and suitability for a career in civil services.
Clearing all three levels is essential for becoming an IAS officer in India.
