It is an annual global science outreach event that brings researchers into pubs, cafes and other informal venues to share their scientific discoveries with the public in an accessible and engaging manner. Founded in 2012 by Dr.Michael Motskin and Dr.Praveen Paul, the festival aims to bridge the gap between scientists and the general public by facilitating direct conservations in relaxed settings.
The inaugural Pint of Science festival took place in May 2013 across three UK cities. By 2014, the festival expanded internationally to countries including Australia, France, Ireland, Switzerland and the United States. As of recent years, it is held in over 400 cities across nearly 30 countries. with Brazil hosting events in more than 120 cities.
The themes includes Neuroscience, Psychology, Psychiatry, Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy, Human Biology and Health, Earth Sciences, Environmental Topics, Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, Social Sciences, Law and History.
In 2025, the festival celebrated its 10th edition with events in numerous cities worldwide
