Pakistan’s southwest is where it is situated. Afghanistan is its northern neighbor, and Iran is its western neighbor. Balochistan is connected to Iran by the Taftan border and to Afghanistan by the Chaman border. The strategically important deep-sea port of Gwadar is situated in Balochistan. It is a vital part of CPEC, which is a huge infrastructure project between China and Pakistan aiming at strengthening trade routes. China has invested considerably in Gwadar’s construction, and it is projected to become a key hub for regional trade. The province with the most resources in Pakistan is Balochistan. Coal, copper, gold, natural gas, and other minerals are abundantly available there. One of the biggest undeveloped copper and gold mines in the world is the Reko Diq project in Balochistan. Balochistan is also home to Pakistan’s largest natural gas reserve, the Sui gas field.
