1. MoPSW launched ‘SAGAR SAMRIDDHI’, an Online Dredging Monitoring System

To accelerate the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways (MoPSW)’s “Waste to Wealth” initiative, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal launched “Sagar Samriddhi – Waste to Wealth” on June 9, 2023.

 

MoPSW’s technological arm, the National Technology Centre for Ports, Waterways, and Coasts (NTCPWC), is responsible for the development of the system.

 

Features:

 

Compared to the previous system, known as the draft and loading monitor (DLM) system, this new technology will offer advantages.

 

Before processing and generating real-time dredging reports, will also bring synergy between multiple input reports like daily dredging reports and pre- and post-dredging survey data.

2. ICMR Study: India has 101 million diabetics & 136 million pre-diabetics & Goa has the highest prevalence

The Indian Council of Medical Research–India Diabetes (ICMR-INDIAB) recently conducted a study that found that approximately 101 million people in India have diabetes and 136 million have pre-diabetes.

 

According to the study, Goa has the highest proportion of diabetics. Diabetes affects approximately 26.4% of the Goan population.

 

The ICMR-INDIAB study is distributed in the clinical diary “The Lancet Diabetes and

US ICAI office:
