It is a joint effort by NASA, Roscosmos, JAXA, ESA, CSA. Since 2000, it has been continually inhabited. Its velocity is almost 28,000 km/h. It completes one complete orbit every 90 minutes while orbiting the Earth at a height of about 400 kilometers. It uses docked spacecraft to perform reboost operations in order to maintain its orbit and combat atmospheric drag. It lacks a self-sufficient propulsion mechanism. It carries out microgravity experiments in disciplines such as materials science, physics, biology, and astronomy. It acts as a platform for space-based observations and monitors the earth’s surroundings. It encourages amicable cooperation in space travel.
