It is situated at the intersection of three states—Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu—in the Nilgris district of the state. The wider Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve includes it. This area contains a wide range of habitats, including secondary grasslands, marshes, moist deciduous forests, tropical evergreen forests, and dry and damp teak forests. Elephants, Gaur, Tigers, Panther, Spotted Deer, Barking Deer, Wild Boar, Porcupine etc are the wildlife present here. A vital supply of water is provided by the Moyar River, which flows through the reserve.
