To tackle organized wildlife crime in the nation, the GoI formed this statutory multidisciplinary agency under the Ministry of Environment and Forests. It only has authority over India. It has five regional offices in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, and Bhopal in addition to its headquarters in New Delhi. The Wildlife Protection Act of 1972 requires that information on organized wildlife crime activities be gathered, compiled, and shared with state and other law enforcement agencies for prompt action to catch the offenders.
